Website Privacy Policy

Information collected from our website
At Corning Credit Union, we believe that protecting the safety and privacy of our website visitors is one of our fundamental responsibilities. The following information will help you to understand how we protect the information gathered from www.corningcu.org, our subsites, and the websites of our affiliates. The Credit Union passively collects information from its website users such as user name, email addresses, Internet Service Provider address, access time and date, click streams, and failed logon attempts. The Credit Union collects this information for internal reporting of website statistics and product monitoring to improve our services. Information obtained from our website is kept secure and access to that information is limited to the Credit Union personnel who need to know the information to provide products or services to our members and to properly operate the Credit Union. The Credit Union does not collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 on its website.

Your consent
By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of this information by the Credit Union. This information about members and former members is never disclosed to third parties except as permitted or required by law. To enhance the personalization and performance of a user's experience and to secure an audit trail for online banking transactions, the Credit Union utilizes "cookies" (very small files that a website sends to the visitor's browser for record-keeping purposes). Cookies function as identification cards and also record the visitor's preferences. Cookies cannot deliver viruses. Users can set their browser to deliver a message when a cookie has been sent, allowing them to decide whether to accept or reject it. However, to tailor website content to our visitor's interests and to complete online banking transactions, all cookies must be accepted for the Credit Union and its affiliates' website use. All of our cookies are temporary, which means that they are active only as long as the user's browser is running and are deleted when the session has ended.

The Credit Union does not respond to, or take any action in response to, web browser “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that provide members the ability to exercise choice regarding the collection of personally identifiable information about a member’s online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services. Other parties may collect personally identifiable information about a member's online activities over time and across different websites when a consumer uses the Credit Union website or online service.

Website security measures
The Credit Union's encrypted website has security measures in place to protect against access, misuse or alteration of your information. The Credit Union uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted network transmissions on all website pages that require the input of, or supply confidential information. (SSL was created for use in transmitting private information over the Internet and encrypts [converts data into secret code] information exchanged between a web browser and a web server). All online applications within online banking are on a secure web page. Data transmitted by submitting online applications is encrypted using PGP Encryption software. The Credit Union may use feedback from visitors that is received via email from our site to respond to inquiries, comments, or suggestions. This information about members and former members is never disclosed to third parties except as permitted or required by law. The Credit Union asks that you do not send confidential information to us via email. You should never send confidential information to the Credit Union using unencrypted email. Email is not secure against interception. If your communication is sensitive, or includes personal information such as member account numbers, credit card numbers, personal identification numbers, social security number, or date of birth, you should contact us in person, by phone or regular mail. Our website may contain links to other websites. The Credit Union is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage all users to read the privacy statement of all linked websites.

Children's Online Privacy Policy
We recognize the particular importance of protecting privacy where children are involved. As such, Corning Credit Union does not have sites or services targeting children under the age of 13 as a primary or secondary (meaning to a lesser degree) audience. The website information is directed at parents and at times at youth over the age of 13 for financial education purposes.
